Over this past summer I had the
opportunity to attend one of the five A1 US developmental volleyball camps.
The camp that I attended was in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at Nova University.
The main focus with U.S. Volleyball was defense. For the first two days is
was all digging and passing. Then we moved to serving and offense, but still
always working on passing. On the third day we got to go to the beach for
two hours and were given the opportunity to play in a sand doubles
tournament. It was for both men and women of all ages. One of my roomates ,
Kelly and and I played in the 16's girls and were the only two from the
camp. We did well and it was an awesome experience. We had three coaches,
but our main coach was Coach Matt from Miami University. All three coaches
were eager and willing to help. The plus side to having seventeen girls made
it possible for a small amount of coaches were able to work one on one with
each girl. They were awesome and always pushing you to better your game.
Overall the camp was alot of fun and a very great experience. It is a camp
that makes you work hard both physically and mentally, but in the end it
will all pay off.
