Freshman Tayler Vebares (U of Pitt @ Johnstown) finshed her first season with 165 kills (second on the team) ..... Picture right below

Banquet (11/15/11) .....

Another season comes to an end, along with our annual banquet. Pictured below is the team and the seniors following the night

Homecoming Float (10/20/11) .....

The Red Lion Homecoming festivities kicked off Thursday night with the parade. The volleyball team participated with their own float. It was complete with lights, a net, music, and even a fog machine that didn't work. A cold, rainy, windy day, slowly turned into a very pleasant fall evening.

Tailgate Party (10/20/11) .....

When it was decided to enter a float in the Homecoming parade, a meal for the girls became necessary. Instead of the usual pizza party, it was decided to try something new. Team members and their families were invited to a "Tailgate Party" on the pool deck. Jay Beaver grilled up hamburgers and hotdogs with all the trimmings. Although a bit cold, a good  time was had by all.

Senior Night (10/18/11) .....

Jenna Hammers, Carly McGlade, and Hope Jamison were recognized at Senior Night. A beautiful "alter" with a presentation on the big screen in the lobby was amazing.

Red Lion JV Tournament (10/1/11) .....

Red Lion hosted its third annual "Fall Fling". Although a bit prejudiced, is there a better facility for a two pool tournament? Red Lion advanced from poolply into the playoffs with a bye, and then lost to Brandywine Heights in the semi-finals. Spring Grove beat Central York in the finals.

Dallastown Junior Varsity Tournament (9/10/11) .....

Red Lion traveled cross town to participate in the Dallastown JV tournament. After going 4-2 in their pool, they advanced to the playoffs. Red Lion beat York Suburban in the semifinals (25-17) and lost to York Central (16-25) in the finals. The team is shown below with their medals and trophy.

Red Lion First - Kind Of .....

Hurricane Irene didn't stop the Red Lion volleyball team from visiting Penn State. Tropical Storn Lee did what Irene couldn't do. Shut down the area. School was closed. Athletic events cancelled, including the Red Lion & Dover volleyball match. While this was a first, to miss school because of rain, Red Lion did have to cancel a match a few years back (against New Oxford), when there was a leak in the roof and gym.

Season Opens Season With A Win (9/2/11) .....

Red Lion opened the season with a win over York Suburban. The afternoon began with a pep rally on Horn Field, where the new turf field was showcased for the student body.  Red Lion took the first two sets, but York Suburban wasn't ready to go home.  They took the third but Red Lion finished strong to take the fourth set and the match. Scores were 25-14, 26-24, 16-25, 25-14.

Volleyball Team Welcomes New Superintendent to Red Lion .....

Dr. Scott A. Deisley is the new superintendent of the Red Lion Area School District. Dr. Deisley has been stopping by the high school and the Fitzlkee Center during the start of the school year. He is shown below with the volleyball team during a recent visit.

Penn State Trip (8/27/11) .....

The team headed to State College for its annual trip. The squad rolled into Happy Valley just after noon. Pictures at the Nittany Lion, downtown shopping and a trip to the Creamery started off their visit. A feast at Pizza Hut filled their stomachs, followed by a visit to Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center. Finally came the highlight of the trip, as we settled into Rec Hall for not one, but two outstanding matches. In the opener,  a five game match had Minnesota beating Oregan. It was after nine o'clock when Penn State took the floor against USC. Rec Hall was filled, and the atmosphere was electrifying. With Penn State having lost its first home match in three years the night before against Oregan, the fans were nervous as the match began. Penn State dropped the first two sets against USC, but the night was far from over. Penn State fought back winning the next three sets and the match. A late trip home to Red Lion was anything but calm, as they drove into and through Hurricane Irene. Winds and rain greeted the bus as they returned very late and tired to the Fitzkee Center. Another great day and trip, to say the least.

Start of School Something Different (8/23/11) .....

The first day of school for teachers, administrators and staff was something different. Programs from throughout the district were showcased in the Student Commons and halls of the Fitzkee Center. The volleyball program used the event show the district what their squad and facilities had to offer. "Live" volleyball was the highlight as the girls played hard for their guests. Free food and gifts were eagerly accepted by the many visitors inside the gym. A raffle for a Brown's certificate was won by Krlsta Jennings from Locust Grove. A chance to spin the wheel and win a prize at the "Beach Ball" stand was a big hit.
